Darlington, SC - The track nicknamed "The Lady in Black" and "Track Too Tough to Tame", held two weekends, NASCAR, adding to reputation an issue that puts the drivers right on the edge. The strange egg-shaped Darlington Raceway, it is difficult to create a vehicle to work well on all posts, and although sixty-two meters wide in turns three and four, the only place to get a grip is against the wall. More good driver has completed its time to hit the wall out of turn four and this weekend was no exception.
The festival began on Friday to qualify for the Diamond Hill Plywood 200 Nationwide Series rained Out. The starting order was determined by owner points, Kyle Busch highlights followed by Ryan Newman, Carl Edwards, Joey Logano, and surprise rookie Erik Darnell. Qualifiers for South-Sprint 500 series was as usual, with Matt Kenseth turning a record lap of 179.514 mph. Jeff Gordon became the second fastest lap, but watched as his Hendrick teammate Jimmie Johnson was felt by the lady in black. Coming out of turn two that came loose and the wall, then bounced and turned down to the bottom. Johnson always qualified in driver points, but had to settle for point 42.
The later became the night and brought the beginning of the Nationwide race. Kyle Busch dominated most of the way and seemed a lock to win the race of 200 miles, but despite leading 143 laps, with three puncture forced him to pit and finished in 16th position.
